Raya 2012

Selamat Hari Raya!

It's truly a blessing to be able to celebrate another year with our loved ones and as we celebrate this year's festivities, I can't help but look back on the memories of past rayas with my kids.
2005 was our 1st Raya as a family - only the 3 of us :)

2006 - No Raya as I had just given birth to Kyra and I was in confinement!

   2007 - 1st Raya as a complete family

2008

2009 - Those with kids will understand hw hard it is to take one good shot of them!

2010

2011 - Hubby had 2 operations due to piles so not much visiting that year.

2012 - Finally this year!

So grateful for all these beautiful moments and to many more :)

Kyle's Start to Fasting

Since Kyle has started P1, we decided that he can start to practice fasting. We suggested to him that he starts with half a day and we how that goes before we proceed further.

My son was quite enthusiastic about the whole thing, and was even telling us to wake him up for sahur. He was very excited and was looking forward to it.

However, each morning at 5am, whenever we try waking him up, it was hopeless! He refused to wake up muttering that he was sleepy! Haha! So much for wanting to experience sahur.

Despite not being able to wake up, he still wanted to fast for half a day, and he manages this quite easily as he is usually quite preoccupied with his toys, books and TV in the mornings to care about eating.

He will 'tahan' till about 2pm, where he will come over to me and say, "Mama, cannot take it already, so hungry!"

On schooldays, he will have his lunch 1st before leaving for school. This is because my boy is shy to eat in school, mainly because he know it's fasting month and there are many Malay kids and teachers who are always around and will "disturb" other kids who eat in front of everyone. Got ego, this boy!

Anyway, it's a great practice and exposure to fasting and hopefully as he grows older, he can adapt better and perform his fast just like a good Muslim boy. Insyallah.

Kyle's 1st Speech & Drama Performance

Each primary 1 class has to put up a performance. And Kyle's class did one skit entitled 'Copycats'.

The whole class had to wear tiger-printed leotard bodysuits and they were so adorable during the performance.

The class not only learned about performing on stage, they also learned about teamwork and they learn to be confident of themselves.

Kyle was super excited about his performance, and it was not because he gets to act and show his talent, but more because he get to have fun with his friends.

Merdeka 2012!

This year I managed to get 4 NDP tickets successfully through balloting! Wow, if only I was that lucky with other draws and games. It's our 1st time on the float! Previously, we would usually be seated at the Esplanade waiting for the fireworks.

The only thing I hate about going to such events is the crowd. Everywhere and anywhere is covered with people and parking is torture. But other than that, we usually get all hyped up and enjoy the show.

The best part of the parade for the kids and hubby were definitely the airshow, where they could see the fighter jets, apache helicopters and the parachuters!

As for me, I always feel emotional whenever we sing the National Anthem, and the great red and white flag flies past all of us. And hehe, cheesy me, just love singing to all those National Day songs!

But one thing we all enjoyed as a family, the fireworks!! Awesome!
