The Wheels on the Bus Go Round & Round..

I hate to admit it, but ever since we got a car a few years back, we have all gotten complacent and have really lost touch with the public transport in Singapore. Except for taxis, of course. I am quite spoilt in that sense, and I loathe having to stand on the public transport and having to "tahan" with many undesirable smells.

My kids of course have to bear the consequences of their spoilt parents. My hubby does not even know how to use the ez-link card, I think :p. The kids hardly take public transport.

So occasionally, to give them a sense of how it feels and how fun it can be, we do chuck the car aside and take either the bus, MRT or LRT. Usually, it's somewhere near within the neighbourhood, so even if we are tired after the trip, we can take a cab back home hehe. Tsk tsk.

Recently, the kids have been begging for a ride on a double-decker bus. It's amusing how things we regard as something small is actually such a big thing for a 6-7 year old.
Before the ride, they kept talking about it all the time and were super excited about it.

Well, they were not disappointed. Even us who have taken many times when we were young, could not help but feel happy and me and hubby remembered the many times we took the double-decker bus when we were dating.

I do hope in future they become independant and learn to go around without the car/taxi.

Mid-Point

33 Years old!! Half my life is gone already (assuming I survive till 70-plus.) So old already :(

But somewhat blessed to know at 33, my life is rich with love from my family, hubby and my kids.

Thank you for all the laughter and the tears...without which my life would be meaningless.

All work & no play makes the Ks' such dull kids!

Recently, we got the kids a pair of bicycles. As much as we feel that academic support is important, we need to support the kids to have a balance lifestyle, and thus sports and health is very much important.

We usually go downstairs and cycle as a family. I would sit behind my hubby on the motorised bicycle.

Kyle used to go for swimming classes, and now he attend soccer training. As for Kyra, she does not yet have a particular interest in sports, but she is slowly but surely picking up badminton. Nowadays we try to at least one a week, go to the playground near our home and have a game of badminton.

Kyle is getting the hang of it, and Kyra is also enjoying the game. Plus the cycling, and the fun they have at the playground, it is the perfect way to sweat it out!

Keeping each other in mind

With one boy and one girl, I'm always finding activities that each of them can enjoy and not feel that mummy n daddy are bias towards one of them. I'm also grateful that my kids are not selfish and would understand if Kyra wishes to go enjoy her coloring at the mall or if Kyle wishes to play the arcade. They know that each of them deserves a turn and they have to give and take and not think of themselves all the time.

For example, when recently I took Kyra to see her idol Barbie, Kyle was understanding. Even though he is not interested, he waited patiently with his daddy at the side until the show was over.

And when we took Kyle to see "Dinosaurs Live", Kyra was just as sporting and even though she cried initially, cos the dinos seems so real, she still did not insist on leaving and understood that dinosaurs are her brother's favourite.

Here's Kyra at the Barbie Charm Princess show. Awestruck is an understatement :)

I was so proud of her during the Q&A session, Kyra confidently put up her hand to answer one of the questions. Right in front of so many people watching, she got the answer right and was rewarded with a Barbie bag. Go girl!

Here's Kyle at the Dinosaurs Live show.

He is super enamoured of dinosaurs and even when we go to the library, he insists on getting books on dinosaurs. He knows most of their names, and mind you, their names are not easy to pronounce!

I am so proud of the both of them and how thoughful they are towards each other. :)
