The Wheels on the Bus Go Round & Round..

I hate to admit it, but ever since we got a car a few years back, we have all gotten complacent and have really lost touch with the public transport in Singapore. Except for taxis, of course. I am quite spoilt in that sense, and I loathe having to stand on the public transport and having to "tahan" with many undesirable smells.

My kids of course have to bear the consequences of their spoilt parents. My hubby does not even know how to use the ez-link card, I think :p. The kids hardly take public transport.

So occasionally, to give them a sense of how it feels and how fun it can be, we do chuck the car aside and take either the bus, MRT or LRT. Usually, it's somewhere near within the neighbourhood, so even if we are tired after the trip, we can take a cab back home hehe. Tsk tsk.

Recently, the kids have been begging for a ride on a double-decker bus. It's amusing how things we regard as something small is actually such a big thing for a 6-7 year old.
Before the ride, they kept talking about it all the time and were super excited about it.

Well, they were not disappointed. Even us who have taken many times when we were young, could not help but feel happy and me and hubby remembered the many times we took the double-decker bus when we were dating.

I do hope in future they become independant and learn to go around without the car/taxi.

Mid-Point

33 Years old!! Half my life is gone already (assuming I survive till 70-plus.) So old already :(

But somewhat blessed to know at 33, my life is rich with love from my family, hubby and my kids.

Thank you for all the laughter and the tears...without which my life would be meaningless.

All work & no play makes the Ks' such dull kids!

Recently, we got the kids a pair of bicycles. As much as we feel that academic support is important, we need to support the kids to have a balance lifestyle, and thus sports and health is very much important.

We usually go downstairs and cycle as a family. I would sit behind my hubby on the motorised bicycle.

Kyle used to go for swimming classes, and now he attend soccer training. As for Kyra, she does not yet have a particular interest in sports, but she is slowly but surely picking up badminton. Nowadays we try to at least one a week, go to the playground near our home and have a game of badminton.

Kyle is getting the hang of it, and Kyra is also enjoying the game. Plus the cycling, and the fun they have at the playground, it is the perfect way to sweat it out!

Keeping each other in mind

With one boy and one girl, I'm always finding activities that each of them can enjoy and not feel that mummy n daddy are bias towards one of them. I'm also grateful that my kids are not selfish and would understand if Kyra wishes to go enjoy her coloring at the mall or if Kyle wishes to play the arcade. They know that each of them deserves a turn and they have to give and take and not think of themselves all the time.

For example, when recently I took Kyra to see her idol Barbie, Kyle was understanding. Even though he is not interested, he waited patiently with his daddy at the side until the show was over.

And when we took Kyle to see "Dinosaurs Live", Kyra was just as sporting and even though she cried initially, cos the dinos seems so real, she still did not insist on leaving and understood that dinosaurs are her brother's favourite.

Here's Kyra at the Barbie Charm Princess show. Awestruck is an understatement :)

I was so proud of her during the Q&A session, Kyra confidently put up her hand to answer one of the questions. Right in front of so many people watching, she got the answer right and was rewarded with a Barbie bag. Go girl!

Here's Kyle at the Dinosaurs Live show.

He is super enamoured of dinosaurs and even when we go to the library, he insists on getting books on dinosaurs. He knows most of their names, and mind you, their names are not easy to pronounce!

I am so proud of the both of them and how thoughful they are towards each other. :)

Toothless!!

Kyle recently has a lot of loose teeth!! Quite a few of his baby teeth are dropping out and amazingly, he does not like to wait for them to drop out, so he actually pulls them out himself!! Yeoooowww!!

His teeth has always been with a lot of gaps in between, so we always wondered whether his adult teeth would actually be bigger and fill up the empty spaces. Hehe...we always joked that well at least he can save on dental floss :)

However, looking at his new teeth...I do not think they will actually fill out much...so looks like maybe braces in future dear?
Shots of him proudly showing off his new "goalposts".

Development milestones - as of Dec 2011

As 2011 draws to a close, just realised that there were quite a few developmental milestones for the 2 kids.

Let's list them down.

1. Kyle lost a total of 3 tooth! One loose tooth on the way.

2. Both of them off the dryper pants and sleeping diaperless on the bed.

3. Both of them off the milk bottle!!
4. Kyra off her pacifier! Gosh this was the hardest habit to break. Only after her back tooth was found to have decayed, then she let go.

5. Kyle's reading improved tremendously. Now learning multiplication tables :)

6. Kyra's word vocab has improved and counting comes naturally. Still needs to read more.

7. Kyle learning how to cycle a 2-wheeler!! Slowly but surely.

Will list more as and when I remember.

Kyle's 1st Soccer Match

Kyle is really into soccer now. He looks forward to soccer lessons every Sat. At first we were worried whether he can stand running and playing in the hot sun (yes, he is an air-con baby). He is more used to playing soccer with his hands ie Wii :)
Anyway, it helps that he has friends in his team, some are from his kindergarten, such as Nabil Iman (Kyra's crush!) and Nazri. He likes to play defender, and he does a pretty neat job helping the goalkeeper kick away any incoming balls.
We were all quite excited when Coach Bala told him that the kids are to play at a friendly tournament. It would be good exposure for Kyle and the rest of the kids.

Learning experience for Kyle: Only the goalkeeper is allowed to touch the ball :)

111111

Hubby turned 38 on 11/11/11. Nice date right? But wow, 38 darling? So near to 40 already. And when we met, he was only 24 :) Well, men do age better anyway, so it's ok sayang...you are still sexy and fine by me :)

We had a lovely dinner at Swensons.

Happy birthday sweetheart :)

Goodbye K2 Lily 2

Kyle has finally graduated from K2. Alhamdullilah, apart from his hyper behaviour, his learning journey has so far been smooth and he is progressing at a acceptable rate :)

He received his cert from Dr Teo Ho Pin, mayor of Bt Panjang CC. My dear boy who is the total opposite of his sister, did not want to be part of the graduation concert as he does not to dance/sing!

He is already missing his friends, Anaqi, Nazri, Danni, Farah....so sad none of them are in Bukit Panjang Primary. We also wanna give thanks to his K2 teachers, Teacher Janice, Teacher Lay Hoon, Mdm Goh, Principal Mrs Lee for taking care of him and tolerating our boy's nonsense :) And of course, for imparting values and knowledge. Thanks again.

Stay at Le Grandeur JB

Our favourite 'H' words - Holiday and Hotels!

The kids are always asking when we are going to stay at hotels...they just loved hotel stays, just like their mummy...guess it also means loads of fun, no school, no homework, playing at the swimming pool, eating and eating, and just chilling out.

So we decided to hop over to our nearest neighbour, Johor Bahru and stay there for a night. Just to please the kids esp the one that recently turned 5, of course.

We stayed at Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor. Syiok! Enjoy the pics!

High 5!

Kyra turned 5 on 18 Oct! She was so super excited that she already started to countdown to her birthday since months ago! And each time her birthday wish change. At first, she wanted a pink bicycle, then change to Barbie doll, then change again..aiyoh this girl! But she can be easy to please as long as her pressie is pink in colour hee.

Just did a small celebration at home and at school. But no school photos this year, she celebrated with her friends as me n hubby were stuck with work...bleargh!

Anyway, here are some birthday photos taken at home.
