Back to Reality Soon

I thought since I have about 2 weeks of leave till I start my new job, I would have time lots of free time to blog and really bum about.

Well, that's not really the case. God kept me grounded by giving me a lot of tasks to do these 2 weeks.

On top of taking care of both kids, I was quite busy getting prepared for Hari Raya. I had to get new clothes and shoes for the family, and other necessities, such as new $ notes for the green packets and cakes and kueh. Cleaning the house when you have 4 children (including my niece & nephew) is an uphill task. After you thought the kitchen is spotless, the kids come in and spill soda or play with breadcrumbs all over the floor :(

I also had to settle my maid's passport renewal and work permit renewal. I had to make trips to the Indonesian embassy, Ministry of Manpower, the maid agency and even the lawyer's office to sign a letter of agreement/employment. All this with Kyra in tow.

But I have to admit I really enjoyed myself. Sleeping late at night is a godsend..on work nights, I sleep as early as 9pm! For these 2 weeks, I slept at about 2am and wake up at 8am. I thoroughly enjoy waking up with the kids and waiting for hubby to come home and we would go out for dinner and ice-cream. When I was working, I was usually too shagged after work to go out anywhere.

I also had a chance to catch up with many friends, and family as well, which I am so grateful for.

I am so NOT looking forward to working again! But that's life, double income is just so necessary in today's world. These 2 weeks have been just lovely, but I have to get myself back down to reality and start earning money again.

As Ramadhan comes to an end, and with Syawal coinciding with the start of my new journey in work, I do hope that everything will go off well and great.

To all my muslim friends, Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir & Batin.

Do come over my house, ok?

We look forward to seeing you!

I Hate That 'Poteng'!!

It has come back to haunt me.

Just when I thought Kyle was off the pacifier.....

Darn it! How does one wean off it!?

Kyle was actually pacifier-free of about 5 months before he picked up the habit again.

Sigh...looks like I have to think up of other tactics to make the habit go away permanently. Help, anyone?

Catching Up With Old Friends

Recently me and Novin met up with our good buddy, Kenneth! Gosh, we missed him so much! Still the same gentle and soft-spoken guy we know, and yet always friendly and such a joker. He is doing well, and I am really happy for him.

The three of us wanted to bid our farewells to a close friend of ours, Mr Zainal. He used to operate a canteen stall at our workplace and he was also our favourite caterer. I tell you, his briyani is the bomb man! It is so good that I can finish up 2 plates at one sitting. And that is usually quite hard for me, you know.

His base is now somewhere is Telok Kurau and so we went to visit him and his wife there.

That's him, Mr Zainal. Close just like family.
His mouthwatering dishes

After eating, we talked for hours over his famous teh tarik and enjoyed the cool and relaxing surroundings. We love hearing Mr Zainal's stories and his advice on life.

A very well-hidden area

Encik Zainal's teh tarik: One of the best I have tasted

That's Mr Zainal's wife, Zaiton.

I will miss this couple dearly. Thanks for helping us out so much. It has been a pleasure working with you and I hope we can continue to keep in touch and remain close friends.
