Finally...I am leaving

It's no big secret anymore, I have resigned from my present workplace.

Yup, after 8 long years, I am finally moving on to somewhere which hopefully is better for me. It's not that my current workplace sucks or is not a good environment to work at, but I want to do and experience other things before I get older and enjoy other kinds of environment before I am deemed to old to apply for a new job.

I have never regretted being in the same workplace for 8 years. I gained so many friends (and some enemies), have such a great working experience, and this place was where I grew and matured, from a girl to a woman. I dated, got married and had two kids in these 8 years.

Anyway, its time to kiss and say goodbye. But I am definitely keeping my memories, that's for sure. I will certainly miss everyone, from the people to the building itself!

My last day of service is 19 Sep 08, but I will clearing my leave...thus on the 12th Sep 08, its adious people :)

Kyle's 1st Library Card

If I was single, not working and not married with 2 kids, you will find me everyday with a book sucking up my face at Borders, Konikuniya, or any library branch throughout Singapore.

Well, that was how I was when I was younger. I love reading. After school, I would turn into a geek and just hang out with books. Not school books, though...I hate those. But I love fictions. Throw me a Stephen King or a Jackie Collins anytime.

In my pre-teens, I also loved Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl books and series such as the Famous Five, the Hardy Boys, the Sweet Valley Twins. My favourite book, was and still is, To Kill A Mockingbird. My mum built up a mini-library just for me and my brother. The habit of reading has improved my English a lot and I don't think I would have gotten good grades for English if I was not the reading type.

Now that I have children, I hope to do the same for them.

Kyle's 1st Library Card!
Yeah! Let's raid the library! Hmm...where to start looking?
So many choices!!

Ok, let's find a spot and settle down. (at this point, Mama is already engrossed in some Harry Potter book)
I like this one. Can we borrow home?
At the moment, he loves picture books and would sit down, observe the different objects/items in each page of the book and point them out to me. It is just so amazing to see your child taking an interest in books :)

Genting Highlands Trip

A 4 day 3 night stay at Genting Highlands with my family. My parents sponsored the hotel stay at First World Hotel (lucky us!). Weather there was cooling, great escape from the heat and humidity of Singapore. We went there by car.

Holiday again? Yup, but this time with my kids of coz!

My SIL, MIL and my Mummy (so 'patriotic', it's our nation's b'day and yet we are posing with the M'sian flag!)

Happy travellers (Auntie Jun's family and ours)

Point to note: Food at Genting is considered expensive. Their prices are comparable to Singapore, and certain foods are even more expensive. So try to stock up on bread/snacks/instant noodles if you can.

The kids had a time of their life, enjoying the outdoor/indoor theme park. Lots of rides, both for the young and the old.

We also played bowling and snooker.

We also took the Genting Skyway - the longest and fastest cable car ride in SEA.

A memorable trip indeed! As in Kyle's own words,"Wah cool, sey!"

Pre-National Day Fireworks

Usually each year, we would try to catch the NDP either live, on TV or if we cannot get tickets, we would at least try to catch the fireworks from a distance. This year though, I guess the lure of a long weekend was too much to resist, and I just cannot imagine idling away in boring Singapore, so we will be holidaying at Genting Highlands.

But we love the fireworks display too much to miss it, so we decided to go catch the fireworks during the NDP Preview. No tickets to the event, but that did not stop us and thousands of people at the Esplanade and Marina Bay jostling each other for a bird's eye view of the fireworks.

There they go!

See them LIVE!

The kids were awestruck, I think.

They were a little scared and held quite tightly to me and hubby during the display. But after it was over, they clapped and laughed happily.
