Dora The Explorer Show

My brother gave us free tickets to the Dora the Explorer show last Sunday at Expo. It was great timing because I just sold off the Barney tickets I had purchased earlier. I had no choice but to sell the tickets because my parents were taking Kyle with them to Penang :( I was quite disappointed actually because I heard the show was going to be really good and apparently tickets had sold out!

Well anyway, thankfully Dora did not disappoint us. The show was full of energy and there were plenty of opportunities for the crowd to be involved in the show, such as singing and dancing. The kids enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Basically the show was about finding a treasure chest, and what obstacles Dora and her friends went through, including facing pirates, to finally get the treasure.

So what shall we watch next, Mama?

My Buddy Kenneth

Gosh, I have been so busy nowadays so that explains why the lack of interest in blogging. My thoughts have been dampered by the stress I have been getting in the office. I can't wait for June to come, a time to rest and relax a little.

One of my best buds at work, Kenneth, recently left us to join another company. We have been friends for about 4 years. He is the type a guy who can become a girl's best friend, someone whom you can confide your darkest and deepest secrets with and he won't tell a soul. Yes, he is something like that guy in the Maid of Honor movie :)

Taken in 2004. He is 2nd from right, beside me. I was preggie with Kyle!

Happy Us

We have been through quite a lot together, especially him who used to drop by my office to confide in me about his problems, both about work and matters of the heart as well.

I am glad though, seeing that he is moving on to a better job with good prospects, and hopefully see him settle down next year with Charmaine, also a good friend of mine.

Take care Kenneth, I will certainly miss you at work, but we will definitely keep in touch buddy!

Happy Mama's Day!

On Friday Kyle ran up to me excitedly after school saying, "I got a card for you, Mama!"

Hehe, my 1st Mother's Day card...how sweet it feels. He made it in school with help from his teacher, of course. It was a big heart-shaped card folded into two.
And what did the inside of the card say?
My son's sweet and simple card beats all the Hallmark cards, I tell you.

How has it been being a mother of two? It is such an overwhelming & emotional experience. Young kids are not like teenagers or adults, they don't know how to lie or to sweet-talk you. They are naive, natural and have no pretenses. There are no hidden messages in their words or body language. You get hard-core truth all the time. It is such a refreshing change from the backstabbing/maliscious people & full-of-hatred/endless war world we all live in. And I dun just mean the US-Afghan war...I am also talking about family wars.

Sometimes I wish they won't grow up. Can or not? I don't wish for them to lose their innocence.
Now the only things they fight about are their toys and who gets to sit or sleep with their Mama. It is so heartwarming when you see Kyra push her brother's hands away from me and quickly crawl up my lap to claim her space in my arms. Or when Kyle says to his sister, "No, this is my Mama! I want my Mama"!

I guess that's how my Mummy felt when me and my brother were young too. Even till now, we are a very close-knit family and we do everything together. I hope that it will remain like that when my own kids have grown-up.

We had a simple Mother's Day dinner at Al-Ameen Restaurant at Bukit Timah.

My parents-in-law also joined us (what to eat har?) Kyra with her favourite aunt My maid (centre) also enjoying her Mother's Day treat. Her 6 year old son is waiting for her back in Indonesia. I'm sure she misses him like crazy. With my superstar MummyThanks for the joy you have given me :) Happy Mother's Day to my Mummy, Mak, Auntie Jun, Regina, Kak Nong and to all mothers that I know, like my dear friends, Shikin, Yasmin, Jes and so many more others. Love you all loads!

And oh, speaking of Kak Nong (my hubby's sis), she has given birth to a sweet little girl, baby Nur Aisyah. She has got 3 older brothers (gasp!) to protect her when she grows up and starts to attract all the bees, hehe!
