On Friday Kyle ran up to me excitedly after school saying, "I got a card for you, Mama!"
Hehe, my 1st Mother's Day card...how sweet it feels. He made it in school with help from his teacher, of course. It was a big heart-shaped card folded into two.
And what did the inside of the card say?
My son's sweet and simple card beats all the Hallmark cards, I tell you.
How has it been being a mother of two? It is such an overwhelming & emotional experience. Young kids are not like teenagers or adults, they don't know how to lie or to sweet-talk you. They are naive, natural and have no pretenses. There are no hidden messages in their words or body language. You get hard-core truth all the time. It is such a refreshing change from the backstabbing/maliscious people & full-of-hatred/endless war world we all live in. And I dun just mean the US-Afghan war...I am also talking about family wars.
Sometimes I wish they won't grow up. Can or not? I don't wish for them to lose their innocence.
Now the only things they fight about are their toys and who gets to sit or sleep with their Mama. It is so heartwarming when you see Kyra push her brother's hands away from me and quickly crawl up my lap to claim her space in my arms. Or when Kyle says to his sister, "No, this is my Mama! I want my Mama"!
I guess that's how my Mummy felt when me and my brother were young too. Even till now, we are a very close-knit family and we do everything together. I hope that it will remain like that when my own kids have grown-up.
We had a simple Mother's Day dinner at Al-Ameen Restaurant at Bukit Timah.

My maid (centre) also enjoying her Mother's Day treat. Her 6 year old son is waiting for her back in Indonesia. I'm sure she misses him like crazy.

Thanks for the joy you have given me :)
Happy Mother's Day to my Mummy, Mak, Auntie Jun, Regina, Kak Nong and to all mothers that I know, like my dear friends, Shikin, Yasmin, Jes and so many more others. Love you all loads!
And oh, speaking of Kak Nong (my hubby's sis), she has given birth to a sweet little girl, baby Nur Aisyah.
She has got 3 older brothers (gasp!) to protect her when she grows up and starts to attract all the bees, hehe!

One baby down, one more to go :) Regina's baby due early June!
