Kyle's vocabulary has increased by leaps and bounds since he started school and most of the time, we are both amazed and amused at what he can say.
These days for a three year old to be conversing like an adult is a seemingly common sight, as most children attend school at a young age, as young as 18 months. When I was 3, I do not think I was able to converse so well in English and definitely my development is not as advanced as Kyle's.
At his age, he can recite his ABCs, count till 20 (ok, he may miss out some numbers), knows how to identify body parts, shapes, colours, objects, memorise songs, and talk in proper sentences.
These are my favourite few expressions from him:
1) What's wrong with you?? (Haha, that's right, he says that to me when he is not satisfied about something)
2) Are you ok? (He asks me when I look blue)
3) I'm so angry with you! (He says this with his hands on his hips, and a mock angry expression)
3) Go and shower! So smelly! (To his ayah, who likes to grab and kiss him upon returning from work)
4) Adik, why, why? Abang here, ok? (Consoling his little sis when she is crying)
5) Mama scared? Its ok, I love you, I sayang you! (Haha, this is after I screamed upon stumbling on a cockroach)
There are many many others which I like, but I will be writing a thesis if I have to note them all down :) His expressions are so dramatic when he speaks, he knows how to use the right tone of voice and the right form of physical expression. It just amazes me.
One thing that worries me about Kyle is his tendency to be aggressive. Nowadays he tends to kick or push his classmates, and even us. I am not sure where he learns it from, and I am not happy with it. I am the one that disciplines my children, and not Hubby. Thus my 'rotan' will come out whenever he does that, and I really feel the heart-ache when I beat him. I don't wish to spare the rod and spoil the child, yet I wish I do not have to do it. I just hope that this is a passing phase and he will stop doing it soon.
Kyra is starting to say words, she knows how to call her family members Ma, Ayah, Nek, Bang and she points to the right person when I say their name. She is so gentle and demure. And she's just like me, loves to shop for shoes & bags! She likes to play 'masak-masak', dress-up (carries her tiny bag and saunters around the house like a tai-tai). I remember an incident where she followed me once to shop, and she was also happily picking out shoes and trying them on! Haha!
She is also what I would call a 'koala bear' baby. Hangs on to me like a koala bear once I reach home from work and does not want to let go :) and I have no complaints whatsoever. She is still small for her age, but as long as she is healthy, the doctors say that she is fine. When she wants to watch Barney, she will point to the DVD player and shout "NI!" Oh yes, for a small girl, she certainly has a loud voice :)
And whenever she wants something, she will say "Nak!" If we say no and scold her, she will keep quiet and look peepingly at us with a sad face. So cute, I tell you! Compared to her brother who is hyperactive and mischievous, Kyra is an angel. Very well-behaved.
My kids are growing up too fast!
