Men & Their Balls

The last time I watched a soccer match at the stadium was before I got married! Me and hubby used to go to a lot of matches, him being a soccer fanatic. Hubby used to be a very good soccer player, before his knee started to give him trouble a few years back. He was captain of the soccer team during his poly days and he also played during his NIE days and I was always at the soccer field whenever he plays. Whenever he scores a goal, he would run around the field in delight and wave at me :)

At one point when he was younger he even dreamt of making it big at national level. But his knee problems gave him nothing but disappointment. Thus Hubby has dreams of Kyle making it big in soccer and achieving what he could not do. I on the other hand do not really wish for Kyle to be overly serious about soccer. I watched too many injuries inflicted on Hubby whenever he played soccer and I do not wish for my son to go through that. Example of Hubby's injuries: head injury which requires stitches and knee injury which required surgery and metal inplantation!!

Kyle does show promising soccer skills since young. He could dribble and kick balls using either leg. He delivers very powerful kicks which always make Hubby's face light up. I do not mind Kyle taking it up as a CCA in school but not on a serious basis please!! Hmm...how about violin or piano dear? I can see Hubby's eyes rolling already!

Well anyway, we got tickets to watch the Singapore/Vietnam match last Sun on 21st Dec so we decided to bring the kids along. It is a 1st time experience for them and believe me, nothing beats the atmosphere of being in a stadium packed with 50000 soccer-mad die-hard fans.

On the way there

Sea of Red

Excited Us!
People were dancing and singing. We were seated right in front nearby to the Diehard Fan Club so it was really noisy and happening. At one point during the match, Kyle was quite scared because everyone was shouting and calling the players and referees all the vulgarities they could think of! I instinctively covered their ears!

The kids joined in the Ole Ole song, did the Kallang Roar and waved their Singapore balloons!

Singapore's loss did not damper our mood much as we were happy the kids had fun.

We are already thinking of the next match to go :)

Drawing Board

An early Xmas present for the kids. Something to pass by the time during these holidays and for them to start practising their writing or rather doodling skills!

5 Years and Still Going Strong

Something else to celebrate about. Hubby and me turned 5 on 13th Dec!

This year instead of going out, we spend our anniversary at home. Why? Well because this year we splurged on this!

Hehe...a 32inch Sharp Plasma TV in our bedroom! It costs about S$800 and even comes with a free DVD player.

So this year instead of going out doing the usual romantic stuff, we did the romantic stuff in our bedroom! Haha :)

Its such a great feeling to relax on our bed watching DVDs all day along and having each other to cuddle up to.

5 things that made our marriage strong:

1. Loving and caring. We hold hands and kiss a lot! And we make it a point to kiss/salam before leaving each other to go to work and after coming back to work.

2. Tolerance and patience. Yes we are not perfect. I hate it when he leaves things lying around and he hates it when I am disorganized. But we learn to not be so petty and picky over small stuff. Whenever we quarrel, we try to talk and reason. If not I will sulk and let him say sorry to me 1st haha! The main thing is not to force the other party into doing what they do not want to do.

3. Generous. This one I have to give credit to Hubby. He is a very generous person and does not think twice about giving me or our parents $$. He is not calculative and will scrimps on himself but spends on his family cos he feels we deserve the best. I wish I was that generous, but not much $$, so how to be generous leh?

4. Family bonding. Time with our children is precious as we are both working parents. So we spend much of our nights and our weekends spending time and bonding with our kids. The children has definitely brought us closer to each other as we laugh and cry together over their growing up pains and joys.

5. Filial Piety. I treat his family just like my own and he treats my family just like his. Result: Less conflict and less quarrels, and more fun! In fact we are all so close that we always go for holidays together, his parents and my parents. Incredible and rare :)

Thank you darling for being a part of my life. I can never imagine life without you :)

The Big 3-0

And so THE DAY came.

I am officially 30 freaking years old. I was kinda dreading it to be honest but looking back, I am quite happy that at 30, to be happily married with 2 kids, having a stable and good career, blessed with love from family and friends, I am considered quite lucky.

It has certainly made the crossover to the 30s age-group a lot easier. I just hope that I can age gracefully and healthily surrounded by my loved ones.

Although many people have told me I do not look like I am 30, let's just keep it low-profile ok...I plan to be forever 18 haha!

Hubby decided to pamper me just like during our dating days and took me out sans the kids. We drove up to Tebrau City at JB. It is comparable to our Vivocity, but of course things are much cheaper! We shopped (Hubby bought me 3 tops and a pair of shoes), watch a movie (The End of the World starring Keanu Reeves) and ate at the StoneGrill Restaurant.

I want to grow old with him :)

At the StoneGrill Restaurant

It is quite a unique experience eating there. The meat served to us is raw and placed on a special cooking stone which has been pre-heated to up to 400 degrees Celcius. After 10 mins or so, the meat will be thoroughly cooked. Usually served with either rice, mashed potatoes or fries.

A very hungry me!

I got a special surprise from Hubby!

The best birthday gift? My babies singing Happy Birthday to me :)

Hari Raya Haji at Malacca: 7-8 Dec 2008

It has been a tradition for us to return to Malacca every Hari Raya Haji since a few years back. Last year was very special as me and hubby did the 'aqiqah' for our two kids. http://kylenkyra.blogspot.com/2007/12/hari-raya-haji-celebrated-kampung-way.html

This year we just planned to drive up, eat, shop and enjoy the atmosphere of Hari Raya Haji there.

We could not get our favourite Mahkota Parada Hotel (fully booked) so we had to settle for Everly Resort. Our apartment has 2 bedrooms. 4 families. Squeeze!!

It is about 20mins drive away from town which was a damper. At Mahkota Parade Hotel, whenever I wanted to go shopping, I just had to cross the road! Darn it!

But the Everly Resort is still quite lovely and is just right next to the sea. You can get seafood stalls selling ikan bakar at the sides of the roads nearby the hotel. There are also fresh fruits and even stalls selling the famous Malaccan belachan :)

Just one complaint. It was raining throughout our stay there! I love the rain but not when I am holidaying. It just ruin our plans, such as to walk on the beach or swim in the sea. I managed to get the kids to the hotel pool for an hour before its started raining again.

Getting ready to go for a splash! Everly Resort

We also drove up to Mahkota Parada Shopping Centre. Got myself a pair of gold platform shoes :) Just RM29.

At the shopping area

As per every year, we visited my aunt's house. She is my dad's eldest sister and she cooks the most delicious authentic Malaccan dishes.

Relaxing at her house

2nd day: Going to my uncle's house to see the korban (sacrificial process of the cows/lambs)

I didn't take any pictures there. Too gory for this blog and besides I could not bear to watch the process anyway.

Kyle was feeling eeky also. As the villagers were cutting up the meat, he was almost scared to move, saying'There got so much blood!" and refused to come near the butchering area. Instead, he went to the rabbits' cage and fed them grass.

It was just a short one night trip but we certainly enjoyed ourselves despite the rain. Just one word of advice, never ever go back to Singapore on the last day of the holiday before work starts. Everyone had the same idea and we were all stuck at immigration for 2-hour plus! I hate jams!
