Developmental Updates on the 2 Ks

It has been about 6 months since Kyle started going to playgroup. So far, I have been tremendously happy and impressed at the results. Before he started to attend school, he had a problem expressing himself clearly. He did not speak proper words, instead he used his hands or face expressions, or just spouting sounds, which I guess meant something to him but of course gibberish to us. Me, being such a 'kiasu' parent was quite worried, because I know of kids his age (about 2.5 years old then) who could talk in sentences and express themselves clearly.

Six months down the road, and now my dear son cannot stop talking! Heehee Haha! Not that I am complaining, of course. I am just terribly overwhelmed by the fact that he and I can hold an almost proper conversation. For example, when I reach home from work:

Kyle: Mama!

Me: Hey baby, how are you today? Ok?

Kyle: Abang (he refers to himself) 'sakit'. (points to nose) Flu.

Me: Oh dear! Have you taken your medicine?

Kyle: Yes! Bibik (my maid) give 'obat'.

Me: Good boy. You want to go doctor?

Kyle: Ok! I want take ambulance see doctor.

Heehee. Ok, maybe still need to touch-up on the Malay-English sentence combination, but it is still so adorable. He can go on and on commenting on the things he observes or sees around him. These are a few of his favourite sentences (and mine).

Oh, I see cat/dog/bird/truck/bus/car/moon (and any other things that excites him)!

Wah, bus so big!

Ayah, park car, Oh there got! (getting excited at finding a lot while his dad is parking)

Mama, Abang want toy car, bus, truck (any other moving vehicle he knows). One, please! Thank you!

Sedap! Bagus! (whenever he is eating something he likes)

He can also sing his favourite songs, such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Itsy-Bitsy Spider and the Wheels Go Around. I especially love it when he counts from 1 to 10 and recites his ABCs.

I really wish to thanks his teachers from the bottom of my heart for their support and guidance. Teacher Ruz, Teacher Tan, Teacher Raman and Teacher Lai, I know sometimes Kyle can be a bit stubborn and naughty at times, I do appreciate your patience towards him :).

My Baby

He will be turning 3 next year in January. I will be enrolling him in the full-day programme then. He will be able to learn Mandarin :) Yup, I already made plans for him to take up Chinese as a 2nd Language when he goes to primary school. I can always teach him Malay at home. Nowadays, knowing how to converse and write in Mandarin is becoming more important. Even when looking for jobs, one of the requirement states that you need to speak Mandarin. Call me kiasu, but I don't care. The reality is that the world is a rat-race and I just do not wish for him to be at the losing end in the future. But don't worry, I am not obsessive or deranged. My son is still a child and playtime is just as important.

Me: Mama buy you one police car ok?

Kyle: Ok! Nee-no, nee-no, nee-no

My princess Kyra is currently learning how to walk. She is still very unstable and wobbly and prefers to hold on to whatever is nearby for support. Kyle was quite a fast learner, having mastered the art of walking with support at 11 months 2 weeks. I actually expected Kyra to beat her brother's record because she is a girl, and people always say that girls develop faster. But it's ok, at least she is trying hard and mama's always there to hold your hand sweetheart :)

She now has 2 upper and 2 lower teeth :) Finally, after a year of waiting.

Now I can start chewing shoes, toys, books, mama's phone yummy!
