Leaving On A Jet Plane

Just one more day, and I will be in Bangkok, Thailand :)

I will be flying off on Saturday 1st Dec morning via Tiger Airways and returning home on Wed 5th Dec. Will also be spending two nights in Pattaya. Just me and the husband. Hee, like honeymoon again. Except that now I have two cheeky tots waiting for me at home in Singapore. Sigh...I have never been away from them for more than 3 days. And when I was in KL in June this year for 3 days, I cried missing them. Each day when I leave for work, I smother and practically suffocate them with my never-ending kisses and hugs. And the feeling is mutual :) They kiss me endlessly as well and don't wish for me to go to work.

I have been mentally preparing the elder one for my absence, saying that mama will be in thailand next week. He replied saying that he also wants to follow go thailand. So I have been comforting him, promising him all the toys I can find in thailand. Another worry is my princess who sleeps with me since the day she was born. Hopefully she won't get cranky sleeping with my mum.

Anyway, this trip will be good for me cos I have not been feeling well, tired, burnt-out, stressed out these few months. This getaway will give me a chance to rest, relax, re-energised myself and just get away from work and spend quality time with hubby dearest. It's hubby's wedding anniversary gift for me. We turn 4 this December!

Bangkok is great for cheap shopping, great nightlife, spas, and mouth-watering food! And Pattaya is where you will find me on the beach with my bikini, having a massage, sipping my cocktail, suntanning :) I can't wait!

Happy Holidays!

I Really Need More Rest!

I have been on MC since yesterday. Had a scare on Wed afternoon in my office about 4.30pm when I suddenly had chest pains all the way to my abdomen and I was having difficulty breathing. Called my boss who was at the research lab and asked for permission to leave early to see my doctor. He offered to send me, but I refused. Did not wish to trouble him actually and furthermore I can get a cab easily.

My chest was hurting each time I breathe on the way to the doc in the cab. And my hands felt so warm. I was kinda freaking out already, thinking of the worst. Could not reach hubby as he was busy in school. The doctor finally got to see me, and concluded that I was having inflammation at the bone around the heart area. Thus each time I breathe, the bone constricts pressing down on my chest and causing the pain all the way to my stomach. He gave me painkillers, something for the inflammation and also sleeping tablets! He said that I need to get some sleep and rest well. Whenever I am tired, my body system just gives way and I get a lot of health problems.

So I have been happily sleeping on my comfortable bed. Feels like bliss not having to wake up early to go to work :) I could even do a bit of reading, which I sorely missed. I just am dreading to come back on Mon to see the piles of work waiting for me :(
In the meantime, I will enjoy the short holiday while it lasts :)

Developmental Updates on the 2 Ks

It has been about 6 months since Kyle started going to playgroup. So far, I have been tremendously happy and impressed at the results. Before he started to attend school, he had a problem expressing himself clearly. He did not speak proper words, instead he used his hands or face expressions, or just spouting sounds, which I guess meant something to him but of course gibberish to us. Me, being such a 'kiasu' parent was quite worried, because I know of kids his age (about 2.5 years old then) who could talk in sentences and express themselves clearly.

Six months down the road, and now my dear son cannot stop talking! Heehee Haha! Not that I am complaining, of course. I am just terribly overwhelmed by the fact that he and I can hold an almost proper conversation. For example, when I reach home from work:

Kyle: Mama!

Me: Hey baby, how are you today? Ok?

Kyle: Abang (he refers to himself) 'sakit'. (points to nose) Flu.

Me: Oh dear! Have you taken your medicine?

Kyle: Yes! Bibik (my maid) give 'obat'.

Me: Good boy. You want to go doctor?

Kyle: Ok! I want take ambulance see doctor.

Heehee. Ok, maybe still need to touch-up on the Malay-English sentence combination, but it is still so adorable. He can go on and on commenting on the things he observes or sees around him. These are a few of his favourite sentences (and mine).

Oh, I see cat/dog/bird/truck/bus/car/moon (and any other things that excites him)!

Wah, bus so big!

Ayah, park car, Oh there got! (getting excited at finding a lot while his dad is parking)

Mama, Abang want toy car, bus, truck (any other moving vehicle he knows). One, please! Thank you!

Sedap! Bagus! (whenever he is eating something he likes)

He can also sing his favourite songs, such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Itsy-Bitsy Spider and the Wheels Go Around. I especially love it when he counts from 1 to 10 and recites his ABCs.

I really wish to thanks his teachers from the bottom of my heart for their support and guidance. Teacher Ruz, Teacher Tan, Teacher Raman and Teacher Lai, I know sometimes Kyle can be a bit stubborn and naughty at times, I do appreciate your patience towards him :).

My Baby

He will be turning 3 next year in January. I will be enrolling him in the full-day programme then. He will be able to learn Mandarin :) Yup, I already made plans for him to take up Chinese as a 2nd Language when he goes to primary school. I can always teach him Malay at home. Nowadays, knowing how to converse and write in Mandarin is becoming more important. Even when looking for jobs, one of the requirement states that you need to speak Mandarin. Call me kiasu, but I don't care. The reality is that the world is a rat-race and I just do not wish for him to be at the losing end in the future. But don't worry, I am not obsessive or deranged. My son is still a child and playtime is just as important.

Me: Mama buy you one police car ok?

Kyle: Ok! Nee-no, nee-no, nee-no

My princess Kyra is currently learning how to walk. She is still very unstable and wobbly and prefers to hold on to whatever is nearby for support. Kyle was quite a fast learner, having mastered the art of walking with support at 11 months 2 weeks. I actually expected Kyra to beat her brother's record because she is a girl, and people always say that girls develop faster. But it's ok, at least she is trying hard and mama's always there to hold your hand sweetheart :)

She now has 2 upper and 2 lower teeth :) Finally, after a year of waiting.

Now I can start chewing shoes, toys, books, mama's phone yummy!

My New Godson

17th November is my best friend's birthday. And guess what present she got? The very best, I tell you!

A BABY!

Yup, she really got a baby. You see, it's her 9th month of pregnancy and she is due end of Nov. But yesterday, in the wee hours of the morning, her water bag burst! Immediately her hubby brought her to KK hospital where she was in labour for 15 hours. Even after so long, her cervix could only open up to 4cm. She was so worn-out and tired, and it was becoming dangerous to both mother and baby. Thus, her doctors decided to c-sect her.

I visited her today, and even though she looked tired from the operation, her eyes were sparkling happily. Who wouldn't be right, at this gorgeous sight?

Welcome to the world, Baby Mohammad Ihsan! Weighing 2.7kg at birth, he looked so adorable and full of that newborn goodness I knew when I had Kyle and Kyra.

I am so proud of her. Congrats Shikin and Wan!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Me and hubby took Kyle to the beach yesterday. He loves cycling and playing sand near the water. When me and hubby were dating, the beach was our 'hot spot' and we love camping there and enjoying the sea breeze. Now, it seems, our son has developed the same love for the sun, sand and sea.
Another piece of good news to announce: No, I am not pregnant. It's my hubby's sis. 4 months preggie. After 3 boys, I do hope it's a princess this time round for her. Congrats!
Hubby's 34th Birthday
It was my darling hubby's birthday yesterday on 11th Nov (11/11). When we first started going out, we were both very surprised cos my birthday is on 12th Dec (12/12). To us, it was a sign that we were meant to meet and be together. It was just too much of a coincidence.
Anyway, he turned 34 yesterday. I somehow think that men gets more charming and handsome as they grow older. Think Richard Gere, Tom Cruise, Denzel, Sean Connery etc...I mean, these men are in their 40s and above, and yet many women still swoon over them. So darling, don't worry, I will still swoon over you no matter how old you get, cos you will always remain charming and handsome to me :)
I got 4 shirts and a belt for him this year. Before we got married, we used to surprise each other with gifts during our birthdays. But after marriage and babies, it became more practical to ask each other what we want. If you ladies want to get quality and great-looking shirts, belts, jackets etc for your men, do drop by Domanchi's at Vivocity. They really have good stuff with reasonable tags.
Yesterday night, we had a birthday dinner at Magic Wok restaurant. It serves halal Thai-Malay cuisine. The chilli crab and steamed fish there is delicious! Auntie June's family also joined in.
One Big Happy Family
Me and the children love you so much bie. Hope you enjoyed yourself!
Future 'Mat & Minah Motor'?
My dad sents Kyle to school each day on his motorbike. Of course I would rather my dad take the bus or walk to school as it is obviously much safer, but my dad, who has always enjoyed the convenience of a motorbike, prefers to take his grandson on a ride on his thrusty old bike. Kyle would sit behind his grandpa and hug him around the waist with all his might till they reach school. I was actually kinda worried as Kyle is still too young. What if he gets excited along the way and loses hold of his grip? I myself only got a ride from dad to school when I was in primary school. Kyle is only about 3 years of age, of course I pleaded and protested to my dad. "At least let him ride in front! You will be able to catch him if he falls!" But daddy insisted that he will be fine and Kyle is a natural pro when riding the bike. Gulp! Does that mean he will be riding a motorbike too in future?
'Future Mat Motor'?
Gasps! Future 'Minah Motor'!?
Sigh...I guess I will just have to pray and dun worry so much. Besides, their grandpa has so many of experience riding a bike, and I know he will be very careful riding about with his grandkids. Right, daddy? I am just a little paranoid about motorbikes, having lost a close cousin through a motorbike accident and seeing many close friends and relatives nearly losing their lives riding a motorbike. Even hubby is not spared from my worries as I have rejected his application to go for a riding license :p
Look Mama! Woo-hoo...can I have a motorbike when I turn 18?
Riiggghttt. (Makes mental note to psycho these two that a car is much better) Hee..
Btw, today is my darling dearest hubby's birthday. HAPPY 34TH SAYANG!
Will have more updates tomorrow.
Office Retreat / Birthday with Irfan's Akif
My office had a retreat last Thursday on 1st Nov. Usually it is held only once a year, and we already had one in Feb but due to the restructuring and reshuffling of duties, the big boss decide to hold another one this year. It was not a 'fun' retreat like we usually had but this time it was a 'working' retreat. Very serious. Too serious till I got nothing to say cos I did not understand (what the hell was the whole thing about) anything. I am damn lucky my working group was smart and efficient, hee.
Anyway, halfway through everyone got bored and started to camwhore.
Last weekend, as my parents and maid went to Malaysia for a holiday, I was 'forced' to become a 'desperate housewife'. It is really hard work taking care of the two kiddos, the big kiddo (hubby) and basically doing the chores at home like any other stay-at-home mum (SAHM). I really have the highest respect for these women! How do they do it? I was ranting and screaming at my family at every little mess around the house. And the chores was never-ending, ironing, washing, bathing the kids, feeding the kids etc. It was only for 3 days but it was enough to confirm that I am not meant to be a SAHM. When my parents and maid came home, I practically kissed their feet, yup, that was how much I missed them (and their help *cough cough*) :)
Me and hubby brought Kyle to my colleague's son's 1st birthday on Sat. His name is also Akif! When he was born, I asked the father, Irfan, what is your son's name. When he said Akif, I was like, you got to be kidding, that's my son's name too! Haha, great minds think alike, eh Irfan?
(Me with Kyle Akif and Birthday Boy Akif)
Thanks for the invitation, Irfan and Sharinna. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously. I would have also gone down the slide also if not for my baju kurung!
Kyle could not stop eating your nuggets and sliding down the ball playpen. Hope Akif enjoyed his birthday and may he grow up a healthy and happy boy.
Today I came to work and learnt that my colleague's brother passed away.
My deepest condolences and my heartfelt sympathies goes out to you and family.
We are all here for you.
Kyra's Weight Issue
Took Kyra to KK Hospital for her 1st year check-up on Wed the 31st of Oct. The doctor said that although her height was normal, her weight, which was only 7.2kg, was at the lower end of the normal range and thus was not very desirable. He scrutinised me up and down, saying that probably Kyra followed after me, which is why she is small. But my mum said that I was quite chubby when I was small. Kyra also had a healthy appetite and her bowel movements were normal.
Anyway, the doctor was worried about other health problems that could be preventing my little girl from gaining weight. One of which was kidney failure. That really got me worried. He ordered a round of blood and urine tests for her. Alhamdullilah, the results showed that everything was normal. Even the ECG test, which was to check her heart rate, turned out fine. The doctor then advised me to switch her milk to Pediasure, which had more calories and thus would increase her body mass. He also gave iron supplements, which was to be added to her milk or water and would increase her appetite further. I do hope that she would achieve the desirable weight the next time we visit Dr Raj in 6 months.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Today I am on leave. My parents have left for Genting Highlands, and my brother and SIL has taken my maid along to KL. Thus there is no one to take care of the kids. I could leave both at my in-laws, but unlike Kyle, Kyra is quite not quite used to being taken care by my MIL, and I am worried that she might cry.

I can't wait for my turn to go on a holiday. Counting down to 1st Dec, baby!
